Surrealist and Architectural Hats Masterclass by Maor Zabar - 2 Days on Sun 7th -Mon 8th April 2019

In this hands-on class you will explore the world of 3 Dimensional sculptural/angular hats that is light weight and eye-catching

Learn how to make a three dimensional, angular hat out of special millinery material covered with fabric.

Delegates will start by free forming the hat using paper on a block head.

When reaching the desired shape you will create a clean pattern and trace it to the required fabric and other specialist materials. This hat will be completely hand stitched using a unique technique and can be decorated with beads ribbons and other trims.

This class is ideal for Beginner Hat Makers, Intermediate Hat Makers, Advanced Hat Makers,Hat Wearers, Hat Buyers and all Adult

Required Materials:

• fabric – 1 yard (preferred with body like velvet, wool, brocade and so...)
• White paper
• Fabric scissors
• Paper scissors
• Sawing needles
• Sawing threads (to match the fabrics)
• Lining fabric (to match the fabrics)
• Pencil & eraser
• Fascinator elastics (to match your hair color)
• Millinery pins
• Black and red marker
• Beads and trims (to match your design)

• Students Required Equipment: it is always better to bring yours otherwise we will arrange for you. Just let us know in time what you are not able to bring along with you. Pls see list below:

Maor Zabar’s love of art started at a young age. The grandson of a tailor, he learned how to sew and play with fabric and above all, was inspired to become a designer. From art studies in High school He went on to study fashion and costume design at Shenkar College of design in Tel Aviv. After graduation, he started his design studio worked as a costume designer in dance, theatre and opera.

For the past years Maor has won numerous awards for his costume designs for theatre and secured his place as one of the leading costume designers in Israel.
